Expansion: Social Logins
The City-Building Kit for Unity not only allows the use of social login assets for your city building + Real Time Strategy (RTS) game(s), but it’s highly recommended. Not only is it easy to include them into your game development efforts, but there are both free and paid assets for this. When you’re playing Clash of Clans for example, you can save a replay of your attacks/defenses and then share them on the various social networks like Facebook and Twitter. You can take a screen shot of your town and post that post/share that too. Much of this depends on what the asset is designed to do and what platform(s) you plan to deploy your game(s) to.
How do I know what they are designed to do and what is the better bet?
When you check any given social login asset found in the asset store, they all have a description. The downside is that not every asset available will have a good enough description to begin with or even at all. The upside is that there are still plenty that have a very useful description to let you decide if the asset is right for your city building + RTS game(s). The other upside is finding the “better bet” for your game(s). It should be pretty easy since the majority already have the standard features that can cover many aspects that any given developer would want. Otherwise, you can still find a social login asset that has the exact features you want.Watch DemoPlay Demo App

Why use social logins in my game(s)?
There are multiple reasons to include the use of social logins into your game(s). These are:
- Free advertising. Every time a player shares/posts from your city building + RTS game(s), you can definitely count it as free advertising for your game(s). Primarily everyone in their friends list ends up seeing the post.
- Ease of use aspects. Most of the social login assets are configured to auto login a player to whichever social network you want to setup for them. It’s a time saver for the players in not having to login to their account(s), then post a screen shot or replay video.
- Variations. You can put just about anything you like into those posts from your game(s). For examples: Links to your game site and/or download links. Use it for competitions and/or events. You can setup quests that give rewards for posting about it in Facebook for one example.
My game is already on or originally meant to be played on Facebook, what now?
Even though the main aim for social login assets is to use them on mobile devices, the expansions never stopped there. The City-Building Kit is meant to be used in Unity and as such, also allows for deployments to the same operating systems (platforms) as Unity deploys to. So even if your city building + RTS games are meant to be played on a social network, these assets can still be used. For example the games Castle Clash, Farmville, and Throne Rush; each of which are played in Facebook and each have various “share it” setups to post in Facebook about your game play.Watch the Strategy Kit

City Building Kit Feature Highlights
The Pro and Complete City-Building Kit for Unity are ready for just about anything you want to develop for a city builder + Real Time Strategy game(s). But every so often, players and developers get battle weary. That’s fine because the Starter City-Building Kit has that covered too. With the kit, farming simulators like Farmville, Hay Day, and Cityville can be developed just as easily right out of the box. The C# scripts, artwork, assets, and everything else you need are already included. It was just a matter of deciding what you want to make for a farm simulation. The mix and match capabilities in the City-Building Kit allow you to create games using artwork, sounds effects, and other game elements either with the included assets or a mix of your own and the included assets.
Here’s a list of features that comes with the City-Building Kit for Unity so when you’re ready to develop your Clash of Clans, The Tribez, or Cityville game(s), you’re all set.
When a developer tries to create a game, one of the main concerns is showing the players how to play. The main method to do so is first-time tutorials. Most players definitely appreciate a first-time tutorial in games like Clash of Clans, Cityville, Restaurant Story, and The Simpsons Tapped Out. Each of these games has it and a first-time tutorial has become a standard in city building + RTS games. The City-Building Pro and Complete Kits include this feature and provide an example to work with right out of the box.
When you purchase the Complete City-Building Kit for Unity, you get up to $40 in free coupons for use in the asset store on NGUI and 2D Toolkit. Making games with the City-Building Kit offers many features and time savers right out of the box. So when trying your hand at making Clash of Clans, Farmville, Fantasy II Defense, and The Tribez clone games, many developers would want to expand on the capabilities of the City-Building Kit with the use of the asset store. The free coupons that come with the Complete City-Building Kit just make it easier to do by saving you some money too.
Full Source Code
With every version of the City-Building Kit for Unity, a wide variety of included artwork and assets are there to help you learn and for your own use. The City-Building Kit didn’t stop there. Also included is the full source code. This comes in the form of C# scripts and xml data files. With these, you can edit them to use the features and functions you want in your city building + Real Time Strategy (RTS) games as you need. Take for example the games Clash of Clans, The Tribez, Farmville, and Fantasy II Defense. Just about any aspect and more can be included into your game development needs. The City-Building Kit allows and recommends you edit the included full source code to suit your needs.
Gems, crystals, or whatever else you want to call them in your game(s) are the hard currency in city building + Real Time Strategy (RTS) games. Currently, the only two ways for users to get gems are buy them (In-App Purchases) or via rewards. But this only depends on what you want to include of this feature when using the City-Building Kit for Unity. The other side of the story for gems is what they’re used on. In Clash of Clans, you use them to speed up unit training, construct buildings faster, and buy resources. In the game Cityville, you have gems but they are named Cash just like with Farmville. In these games, it’s the same ideas as in city building + RTS, but there’s no battle concern. In Castle Clash, you use gems just like in Clash of Clans but you can also, for example, buy Heroes too. The mix and match can be near limitless depending on what you include while using the City-Building Kit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work with Unity 5? Why do I still need NGUI/2DTK?
Yes, we support Unity 5 however the UI/2D functions expanding the kit are far more advanced than Unity 5's UI/2D features currently provide. You'll need the NGUI and 2D Toolkit assets which are further developed.
Where can I get the latest copy?
Click the link at the top of this page to download the latest copy. As long as you have your license code, you will be able to download the latest dev build, upgrade your kit and get any bonuses included with our highest packages.
When do you release updates?
We've designed the kit to be compatible with future releases of Unity, NGUI, and 2DTK since we don't update often unless we discover a bug we missed during our extensive testing we did before this past release.
